Pregnant Perry craving mangoes, Tabasco sauce
Katy Perry overnight released a teaser for a new video and then hit fans with the “double-whammy” news that she’s pregnant with her first child with fiance Orlando Bloom.
In an Instagram live video, the singer 35, said, “Let’s call it a reveal — there’s a lot that will be happening to me this summer.”
She said she will be “giving birth — literally — and figuratively,” meaning she also will release her fifth album. Perry also referenced her newly released “Never Worn White” video, that ends with her wearing a white dress while cradling a very evident baby bump. “Go watch the music video to watch what’s very true.”
“So let’s call it a double whammy, a two-for,” Perry continued. “I’m excited, we’re excited and we’re happy — and it’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep,” the “American Idol judge said, referring to Bloom, 43, whom she’s been dating for three years.
After acknowledging that her pregnancy was getting “pretty obvious,” Perry opened up about some pretty “horrendous” pregnancy cravings, including dried mango.
“I don’t just eat healthy snacks all the time,” Perry said. “You’re talking cravings: I literally never cared for spice, and now? I have to carry Tabasco sauce in my purse like that woman! Some people have essential oils, and I have Tabasco sauce!”
Perry has always wanted kids, telling Marie Claire in 2013 that the timing had to be right. The timing wasn’t right when she was married to her first husband, Russell Brand, from whom she split in 2012. Perry met Bloom in 2016. They dated for a year, then split, but reconciled in 2018 and got engaged in February 2019.
Bloom was previously married to Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr, with whom he shares a son, Flynn, who is 9.
Perry appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in late February and revealed Bloom asked her to marry him during a helicopter ride over Los Angeles.
“I thought we were going to go see some art after dinner, but we pulled up to a helicopter,” Perry said. “But it was really sweet.”
