State of trash-strewed highways is an outrage
I’m outraged. Our highways are starting to look like Mount Trashmore. As a former city council member and an owner of a mortuary transport company who drives all the highways every day, it’s unacceptable.
There is so much garbage by the wayside that it is no longer safe for anyone to pull over in case of an emergency. Leftover construction debris, overgrown weeds and other varieties of assorted hazards have become my landmarks to my destinations.
For the life of me, I don’t understand how this has been so drastically overlooked by Caltrans. It is too late for garden rakes and trash pickers to do any good. We’re in the heavy construction equipment stage now. The winter rain is coming and those plastics and human waste will get washed down those drains, and we all know where that ends up.
