San Jose State has won its first two games of the season, but the Spartans know keeping that streak alive today won’t be easy. The Spartans’ next hurdle comes against the undefeated San Diego State Aztecs. Here’s what you need to know before the game:

SERIES HISTORY: San Jose State leads the all-time series 22-19-2, but San Diego State has won the past seven matchups. Last season, the Aztecs defeated the Spartans 27-17. SJSU running back Kairee Robinson collected 79 all-purpose yards (59 rushing, 20 receiving).

STORYLINES: San Jose State and San Diego State both enter this game 2-0. San Jose State has the opportunit­y to start a season 3-0 for the first time since 1982. San Jose State’s much-improved run defense will face the nation’s best run offense. QB Nick Starkel is coming off one of the best games of his career, but San Diego State has only allowed 109.0 passing yards per game.

MATCHUP TO WATCH: San Jose State’s run defense against San Diego State’s run offense. Through two games, the Aztecs are averaging 347.0 rushing yards per game, the most in the nation. Against Utah State, San Diego State had 407 rushing yards on 53 attempts. San Diego State’s Greg Bell leads the Mountain West in rushing yards per game (134.0). San Jose State’s run defense has been much improved compared to last season. In two games against Air Force and New Mexico, a pair of run-heavy opponents, San Jose State has allowed 177.5 rushing yards per game. Last season, the Spartans allowed 232.1 rushing yards per game.

ROSTER UPDATES: Linebacker Kyle Harmon was injured last Saturday in the win over New Mexico and his status for tonight has not been revealed. Harmon sustained an injury late in the fourth quarter against the Lobos but came off the field under his own power.

STATS THAT MATTER: San Jose State’s offensive line has only allowed one sack in two games. Harmon’s 28 tackles lead the Mountain West. Receiver Bailey Gaither’s 18 receptions and 318 receiving yards are second in the Mountain West. The Spartans are only averaging 83.0 rushing yards per game, the only team in the Mountain West to not break the century mark.
