Freight train strikes, kills pedestrian in San Jose
SAN JOSE >> One person is dead after being struck by a Union Pacific freight train early Thursday morning in south San Jose, company officials confirmed.
The fatal collision occurred about 1: 30 a. m. Thursday around the intersection of Senter and Monterey roads, where a southbound train struck and killed a pedestrian. An investigation is ongoing after San Jose police, fire and rescue responded to the scene, a Union Pacific representative said.
No one else was injured in the crash, according to
Union Pacific.
San Jose police declined to provide any additional information.
The Santa Clara County coroner’s office has not yet released the identity of the victim.
