Melvin Reynolds

Melvin Paul Reynolds passed away peacefully on December 11, 2020 in Ripon at the age of 91. Mel was born on April 2, 1929 in Hemet, California to parents, Lee and Lena Reynolds. Mel grew up in Porterville, California where he graduated from Porterville High School in 1947. He then graduated from Pasadena Nazarene College with his B.A. in education in 1955. Mel served in the U.S. Army at Fort Ord from 1952 until 1954 where he taught cooking and baking to recruits going overseas.

In 1954, Mel married Margaret Miller (Marge) and taught elementary school in Denair and San Jose. It was during this time that he earned his M.A. in administration from San Jose State in 1959. From 1962 until 1970, Mel took his family to Germany to serve in the Dept. of Defense schools in both the European and Pacific arenas. In 1970, Mel and his family settled back in San Jose where Mel served 40 years as a teacher and administrator for Valley Christian Schools until his retirement in 1990. Mel loved the Lord and he was active in the ministry of the church wherever he lived. In 2017 Mel and Marge moved to Ripon where they remained until his passing. Mel will be remembered for his pleasant, kind spirit and his sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mel leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Marge Reynolds, his children, Pamela Reed (Mark) and Mark Reynolds (Esther), his grandchildren, Wesley Reynolds, Kevin Reed, Karen (Reed) Jensen and Michael Reynolds and one great grandchild, Josiah Reed along with his siblings Al Reynolds (Jean), Kathy Longenfeld and Lena Mae Hubble (Cecil).
