Healing can come after Senate does its job

-

Starting Jan. 10, I began a letter campaign to Republican members of Congress urging them to support and vote for the articles of impeachment. Their unanimous response back to me was, “No, it’s time to heal the nation.”

Now they want to draw a line in the sand. Now they want to heal the nation. Not when Donald Trump spewed white supremacy from his lips. Not when he told the Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by.” Not when President Biden was declared the winner on Nov. 7. Not on Dec. 14 when the Electoral College posted its results of the election. And not on Jan. 6 when Congress gathered to certify the election results.

No, I think we can go one more round. The Senate should vote to convict, and then we can start to heal.
