Local official will put nation’s transit on track

America’s transit systems are back on track. Kudos to the Biden administration for asking VTA General Manager Nuria Fernandez to serve our nation as the head of the Federal Transit Administration. Her competent leadership has spanned decades of success at VTA, Chicago Metro and the federal government. On a personal level, Nuria and her husband, Dan, are passionate and caring people who always place the needs of others above themselves.

It has been an honor to work with Nuria to move transit forward for our region through the 2016 Measure B, the 2018 Measure RM3 and the 2020 Measure RR. She will bring the principle, pragmatism and professionalism she has exhibited at the local level to this vital new federal post.
