Family and friends are deeply saddened by Barrett’s passing. Barrett was born to Anders Christian and Caroline Helena (Ruf) Andersen in Cupertino, California and raised in the Santa Clara valley when it was covered with fruit orchards. He graduated from Fremont High School, San Jose State College and eventually George Washington Medical School in 1957. While there he met Wanda Colleen Crowe, a nurse, and they were married in 1958. Together they spent two years in Houston, TX where Barrett took a fellowship at MD Anderson Medical Center. Afterwards they moved to Santa Clara valley where he set up medical practice and they raised a family of three children. Barrett’s career as a General Surgeon spanned over 35 years before retirement and he continued to maintain membership in professional associations and pursue continuing education in the field until passing. In 2006 Wanda passed away, a devastating loss for Barrett and his family. Several years later he and his children were blessed to have Jean Delaney bring joy back into their lives and eventually she became his second wife. Together they moved to the Villages and enjoyed retirement until Jean’s passing in 2017. Barrett enjoyed golf, gardening. travel, entertaining friends, jazz festivals, bridge, football games and most of all visiting children and grandchildren. Barrett is survived by his children Julie Ewald (Jon) and Kristen Remondini (Rick); grandchildren Trevor, Kate, Isabella and Anders; his sister Carole Barber, nephew Stephen Barber (Lauren), and nieces Diana Muzyka (Perry) and Carolee Demcak (Francis), Cynthia and Nina Luzietti (Pam) and their extended families; step daughters Linda Hitchcock, Lissa Lion and step sons James, Michael and Mark Delaney; and Jean’s extended family of 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as Grandpa Barry.
