Oregon to face Oregon State in Pac-12 semifinals

LJ Figueroa scored 21 points, Will Richardson had 17 points, seven rebounds and nine assists and topseeded Oregon eased into the semifinals with a 9173 win over Arizona State on Thursday in the Pac-12 Tournament in Las Vegas.

Eugene Omoruyi added 15 points and six rebounds for Oregon (20-5), which has won six straight games to reach 20 wins for the 11th straight season.

The Ducks shot 59% from the field, including 10 of 18 from distance. The Ducks will face rival Oregon State after the Beavers upset UCLA.

Alonzo Verge Jr. led Arizona State (11-14) with 28 points and eight rebounds.

OREGON STATE 83, UCLA 79, OT >> Warith Alatishe had 22 points and 10 rebounds, Ethan Thompson scored all 18 of his points after halftime and fifth-seeded Oregon State rallied from a 16-point deficit to win the Pac-12 Tournament quarterfin­al.

Alatishe got a floater to fall in the lane with 11.2 seconds left in regulation to put the Beavers (15-12) up 70-69. The Bruins’ Jules Bernard tied it with a free throw after missing the first. Bernard tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 4 seed UCLA (17-9), which lost its fourth straight game.

CAL 76, STANFORD 58 >> Cal broke open a tight contest with a 24-7 game-ending run Wednesday night as the Bears defeated the Cardinal (14-13) in the opening round of the Pac-12 Tournament for the second year in a row. Cal (919) advanced to play No. 3 Colorado late Thursday.

Matt Bradley paced the Bears with 19 points, six rebounds and six assists. Jaiden Delaire led Stanford with 14 points.

DUKE WITHDRAWS FROM ACC TOURNEY >> Duke pulled out of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament and ended its season after a positive coronaviru­s test and the resulting quarantini­ng and contact tracing.

The ACC announced that the Blue Devils’ quarterfin­al game with Florida State scheduled for Thursday night was canceled. Duke had won its first two tournament games, but finished just 13-11 overall and 9-9 in ACC games.

Athletic director Kevin White said that Duke’s season is over, ending the Blue Devils’ streak of 24 consecutiv­e NCAA Tournament appearance­s.

NO. 19 SAN DIEGO STATE 69, WYOMING 66 >> Terrell Gomez scored 20 points, and the Aztecs (21-4) beat the Cowboys (14-11) to advance to the Mountain West Conference Tournament semifinals in Las Vegas.

NO. 2 BAYLOR 74, KANSAS STATE 68 >> MaCio Teague scored 24 points, Davion Mitchell added 23 and

the Bears held on to avoid what would have been one of the biggest upsets in Big 12 Tournament history.

Top-seeded Baylor (22-1) rolled into Kansas City, Mo. after its first regular-season conference title since 1950.

Yet the Wildcats (9-20), who lost their two regularsea­son games to Baylor by an average of 40 points, trailed by four points with just over a minute to go, but Jared Butler made twofree throws to seal the win.

It sent Baylor into a semifinal matchup with Oklahoma State.

NO. 9 OHIO STATE 79, MINNESOTA 75 >> Duane Washington Jr. and Justice Sueing each scored 16 points and the Buckeyes won their Big Ten Tournament opener.

Ohio State (19-8) ended a four-game losing streak.

Marcus Carr had 24 points to lead the Golden Gophers (14-15).

NO. 11 KANSAS 69, NO. 25 OKLAHOMA 62 >> Ochai Agbaji scored 26 points, Marcus Garrett added 17, and the second-seeded Jayhawks (20-8) beat the No. 7-seeded Sooners (15-10) in the quarterfin­als of the Big 12 Tournament.

Austin Reaves and Brady Manek scored 19 points apiece for Oklahoma.

NO. 12 OKLAHOMA STATE 72, NO. 10 WEST VIRGINIA 69 >> Avery Anderson III hit the go-ahead bucket with less than a minute to go, and Sean McNeil’s tying 3-pointer came a split-second after the final buzzer, allowing the Cowboys to escape in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfin­als.

Anderson and Cade Cunningham had 17 points apiece for fifth-seeded Oklahoma State (19-7), which has won seven of their last eight games.

Miles McBride and Taz Sherman had 19 points each for West Virginia (19-8).

GEORGETOWN 72, NO. 14 VILLANOVA 71 >> Dante Harris made two free throws with 4.7 seconds left to cap a perfect game from the line for the eighth-seeded Hoyas, who with the upset reached the Big East Tournament semifinals at Madison Square Garden.

Harris led the way with 18 points for Georgetown (11-12), which was 23 of 23 from the free-throw line.

The top-seeded Wildcats (16-6), playing without injured star Collin Gillespie, had won three straight Big East tourney titles.
