Pastrnak hat trick spurs Bruins to victory, past Lightning in East

David Pastrnak had his 12th career hat trick, scoring the tiebreakin­g goal with 4:10 left Thursday night to help the Boston Bruins beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 and move them ahead of the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Entering the game one point behind the Lightning, Boston finished the night with 85 points — tied with Toronto for second in the Atlantic Division. Tampa Bay has 84 points, good for fourth.

Jeremy Swayman stopped 22 shots for the Bruins, who have won 12 of their last 14 games and are 25-9 since New Year's Day.

Brandon Hagel and Steven Stamkos scored for Tampa Bay, and Andrei Vasilevski­y made 36 saves for the Lightning.

Erik Haula assisted on all three of the Bruins' goals — his first career three-assist game.

ISLANDERS 5, RED WINGS 2 >>

Brock Nelson scored twice and Ilya Sorokin made 37 saves to lead the New York to a sixth straight home victory.

Anthony Beauvillie­r had a goal just nine seconds into the game, and Oliver Wahlstrom and Josh Bailey also scored for the Islanders, who improved to 8-4-1 overall since March 1 and 7-1-1 in their last nine games. Anders Lee had three assists and Mathew Barzal added two, giving him a team-leading 30.

After starting the season 0-5-2 at their new home, the Islanders are 17-7-2 since at UBS Arena.

Sorokin improved to 5-1-0 in his last six starts and is 22-13-7 overall this season. He lost his shutout bid at 13:25 of the third period when Suter scored.

STARS 4, HURRICANES 3, SO >> Tyler Seguin scored in the shootout after goalie Scott Wedgewood was dazzling in his Dallas debut.

Wedgewood stopped 44 shots before denying all three of Carolina's shootout attempts as the Stars posted their third consecutiv­e victory.

Roope Hintz had two Dallas goals in regulation after Jamie Benn scored the game's first goal. Jason Robertson added two assists.

Nino Niederreit­er had two goals and Vincent Trocheck scored the other one for the Hurricanes.

PANTHERS 4, CANADIENS 3 >>

Trade deadline acquisitio­ns Claude Giroux, Ben Chiarot and Robert Hagg combined for four assists in their debut, helping Florida beat Montreal.

Aleksander Barkov, Mason Marchment, Anthony Duclair and Sam Reinhart scored for the Panthers, who lead the Atlantic Division and are 8-1-1 in their past 10 games.

Florida's Jonathan Huberdeau, who leads the NHL in assists, added two more to his total, giving him 67. FLYERS 5, BLUES 2 >> Travis Konecny scored twice, Hayden Hodgson had a goal and an assist in his NHL debut and Philadelph­ia snapped a 13-game winless streak on the road, winning away from home for the first time since Dec. 29 at expansion Seattle.

Patrick Brown also scored, Joel Farabee added an empty-netter, and Martin Jones made 26 saves for Philadelph­ia. Cam York and Kevin Hayes each two assists.

Vladimir Tarasenko and Alexei Torpchenko scored for St. Louis, and Jordan Binnington made 22 saves. NOTES >> Blue Jackets goalie Joonas Korpisalo will have hip surgery and will miss the remainder of the season. Korpisalo, in the last year of a twoyear contract, appeared in 22 games, registerin­g a career-worst .877 save percentage and 4.15 GAA. He had a 7-11-0 record . ... Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuc­k is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury that will require surgery. The Islanders also announced that defenseman Scott Mayfield will miss 4 to 6 weeks with a lowerbody injury, putting his season in jeopardy
