Wembanyama likely out for game against Warriors

-

San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama, who was ruled out of Thursday night's game at Sacramento with a sprained right ankle, is expected to miss Saturday's game against the host Warriors, too.

“He'll probably miss these two games and, hopefully, be ready for Monday,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said Thursday.

San Antonio hosts Golden State on Monday night.

Wembanyama appeared to roll his ankle in the second quarter of Tuesday's loss at Houston. He still played 31 minutes, finishing with 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks.

“You look at the film after, you could see that he wasn't moving very well, so he's taking care of it now,” Popovich said.

Wembanyama is averaging 20.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and a league-leading 3.4 blocked shots. San Antonio is 0-6 without Wembanyama in the lineup.

TIMBERWOLVES 113, PACERS 111 >> Anthony Edwards matched his season high with 44 points, made a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 1:11 remaining and came up with a spectacular block at the buzzer to give Minnesota a victory over host Indiana. Edwards soared to reject a last-second layup by the Pacers' Aaron Nesmith, hitting his head on the rim as the buzzer sounded.

The Timberwolves, who played without All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns (sore left knee), moved into the top spot in the Western Conference, one-half game ahead of Oklahoma City.

Pascal Siakam scored 24 points and Tyrese Haliburton added 23 points and 13 assists for the Pacers. MAVERICKS 114, HEAT 108 >> Luka Doncic had 35 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists to become the second NBA player to record five consecutive 30-point triple-doubles, and host Dallas beat Miami. The All-Star also became the first player in history with four straight 35-point triple-doubles.

Terry Rozier led the Heat with 27 points.
