Stronger disclosure laws are necessary

- Nancy Neff Palo Alto

Knowing who gave the money for a proposition makes all the difference to voters. The committee for Prop. 32 and against Prop. 30, which got $ 11 million laundered through groups associated with the Koch brothers, has given me yet one more reason to vote no on Prop. 32 and yes on Prop. 30.

We obviously need stronger disclosure laws. The incoming Legislature should pass the California DISCLOSE Act, sponsored by the California Clean Money Campaign and supported by California Common Cause and the League of Women Voters. The California DISCLOSE Act will require the top three real funders, not committee names, to be clearly listed on political ads.
