An easy way to jump

Many of us carry a set of thick, bulky jumper cables or possibly one of those heavy battery booster packs in the trunk of our vehicles for recharging a dead starter battery. That might no longer be necessary if you own a Juno-Jumper. This handy little power source is about the size of a smart phone and weighs only 7 ounces. It can juice up your phone or tablet and apparently jumpstart a 12-volt car battery in short order (with 300 amps of output it’s designed for four- and six-cylinder-powered vehicles only). Juno-Jumper charges via USB port or 12-volt lighter socket. Pick one up directly from the manufacturer for $100, including battery connectors, at www.junopower.com.

A must-see for F1 fans

If you enjoyed the Formula One movie, “Rush” from 2014, or the 2010 documentary, “Senna”, you’ll probably want to see “1: Life on the Limit”. Director Paul Crowder’s focus is on the drivers from the sport’s earlier and far more dangerous eras. Back in the 1950s and through to the early 1980s, a significant number of Formula One pilots died behind the wheel, either while racing or in practice. Many others were badly injured or maimed. The fact that until quite recently Ayrton Senna was the last F1 driver to die in a race (actually Senna and driver Roland Ratzenberger both died on the same race weekend in 1994) is testament to how much safer F1 has become. “1: Life on the Limit” is narrated by actor Michael Fassbender, himself a huge racing fan. The Blu-ray DVD is available for $12 from the F1 store www.f1store.formula1.com.

Cover your own bed

If you’re willing to invest some sweat equity, you can protect your vehicular investment and at the same time save a bundle on a bed liner for your pickup. The Raptor Truck Bed Liner Kit from U-Pol Auto Products is a urethane coating that you can spray on, or use a roller or brush to apply, depending on the sort of texture you want. The UV-resistant product is water-, scratchand stain-proof and is also quick drying. Each kit comes with four 25-ounce bottles of base material plus a quart of hardener, all of which is enough to coat a full-size bed and have some left over for touch-ups. Each Raptor Truck Bed Liner kit retails for $144, but resellers, including www. amazon.com, usually sell it for less. Get the full story at www.u-pol.co.uk.

What vintage is that?

Drinking and driving is something to avoid, but serving your favorite vintage (or inexpensive plonk) in an Indycar-style racecar caddy from H & K Metal Sculptures is bound to attract plenty of attention and label you as a genuine enthusiast. Each wine caddy is handcrafted in Germany using recycled steel and copper. The different materials are then welded together to create the finished product, which means that no two caddies are identical. All accept a standard 25-ounce wine bottle. Check out the company’s full line of caddies at www. hksculptures.com and purchase for $90 at www.contemporaryconcepts.com.
