“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (PG13): Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher return for the latest installmen­t of the space saga as it kicks off another trilogy set in a galaxy far, far away. With Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Max Von Sydow. Directed by J.J. Abrams, who also co-wrote the script with Lawrence Kasdan. “Sisters” (R): Tina Fey and Amy Poehler star as out-of-touch siblings who return to clean out their childhood home when their parents decide to sell and throw one last party for old times’ sake. With Maya Rudolph, John Leguizamo, Dianne Wiest and James Brolin. “Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Road Chip” (G): Alvin and his brothers believe Dave is going to propose to his girlfriend in New York City and then leave them. They have three days to hit the road and stop him. “Mojin: The Lost Legend” (Unrated): Epic adventure about a trio of legendary Chinese grave robbers, who come out of retirement for a last job, putting their lives on the line. Based on a best-selling novel in China. (In limited release) “In Jackson Heights”: Documentar­y that looks at one of the most culturally diverse areas in the nation: Queens, New York. (In limited release)

“Youth” (R): Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel play a retired composer and fading film director forced to confront their pasts through the women in the lives. Rachel Weisz and Jane Fonda also star. “The Danish Girl” (R): Eddie Redmayne stars as an artist who discovers her identity as a woman and becomes a transgende­r pioneer with the help of wife and fellow artist in 1920s Copenhagen. With Alicia Vikander, Ben Whishaw, Sebastian Koch, Amber Heard and Matthias Schoenaert­s.

Returning

“Beasts of No Nation” (Unrated): Agu (Abraham Attah) loses his father to civil war in West Africa and finds himself conscripte­d into becoming a child soldier under the brutal rule of the Commandant (Idris Elba). Nominated for a Golden Globe award and two Screen Actors Guild awards, including best supporting actor for Elba.
