Lee struggles with 71 but remains in front

Has difficulty with tee shot one day after shooting 10-under 62

Mirim Lee followed her opening 10-under 62 with a 71 on Friday in the Women’s British Open, leaving her a stroke ahead entering the weekend at tree-lined Woburn Golf Club.

A day after matching the tournament record and falling a stroke short of the major championsh­ip mark, the 25-year-old South Korean player had three birdies and two bogeys to reach 11-under 133.

“Today, the tee shot was a little bit difficult,” Lee said. “I had issues with my tee shot. I think I putted OK. I had a couple of threeputts, but I think with some practice, I can overcome my mistakes.”

Lee had two front-nine birdies, bogeyed the par-4 13th, birdied the par-5 15th and bogeyed the par-3 17th on the Marquess Course.

Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn and China’s Shanshan Feng were tied for second. Jutanugarn had a 69. She won three straight events in May.

Football

The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Andre Johnson. The Titans also added offensive lineman Ronald Patrick. The 6-foot-3 Johnson has 1,053 catches for 14,100 yards and 68 touchdowns. He ranks eighth in NFL history with receptions and ninth in yards receiving, leading active players in those categories. He spent 12 seasons with the Houston Texans.

Cornerback Darius n Slay signed a four-year extension with the Lions worth about $50 million, a deal that lasts through the 2020 season. .

Peyton Manning’s n legacy lives on in Denver, the latest example coming when wide receiver Jordan Taylor made a ridiculous Odell Beckham Jr.-esque one-handed catch. Taylor went from practice squad player to Manning’s personal workout partner last season. Taylor was tightly covered spun around and grabbed Mark Sanchez’s 45-yard throw with his right hand and held on as he somersault­ed out of bounds.

Motor sports

Martin Truex Jr. turned a lap of 179.244 mph and won the pole at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvan­ia. Truex won his third pole of the season in the No. 78 Toyota and the 10th of his career.

Basketball

The Golden State Warriors are inviting veteran center JaVale McGee to training camp, according to league sources. Sources said the Warriors will sign McGee to a make-good contract for the chance to make their 15-man roster in October. McGee, 28, spent last season with the Mavericks after prior stints with the Wizards, Nuggets and 76ers.

Tennis

Top-ranked Novak Djokovic beat fifth-seeded Tomas Berdych 7-6 (6), 64 to advance to the Rogers Cup semifinals in Toronto. On Saturday, Djokovic will face fourth-seeded Milos Raonic of Canada, who beat 10th-seeded Gael Monfils of France 6-4, 6-4. Secondseed­ed Stan Wawrinka of Switzerlan­d topped South Africa’s Kevin Anderson 6-1, 6-3, and third-seeded Kei Nishikori of Japan beat Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

In Montreal, secondseed­ed n Angelique Kerber advanced to the semifinals with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over unseeded Russian Daria Kasatkina. Kerber will face fifth-seeded Simona Halep of Romania, a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 winner over No. 9 Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia. Madison Keys of the United States beat 16th-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchen­kova of Russia 7-6 (3), 1-6, 6-0, and Slovakia’s Kristina Kucova topped 15th-seeded Johanna Konta of Britain 6-4, 6-3.
