Teacher signing bonus doesn’t go far enough

I think a signing bonus incentive for teachers is a good start, but how far does $1,000 go in this ever so expensive valley?

What really needs to be done to retain the best teachers here is give them a no down payment loan, which would enable teachers to better afford a house in the area in which they work.

If we do not, we may find all the best teachers on the outskirts of the Bay Area or moving to different states.
