Friends of Caltrain urge ‘yes’ vote on Measure B

-

In an article about Measure B (Page 1A, Oct. 17), a transit advocacy group was quoted as opposing the measure. Friends of Caltrain, a nonprofit supporting sustainable transportation on the Peninsula corridor with thousands of engaged participants, supports Measure B.

Measure B provides $1 billion in Caltrain investments, enabling longer trains to carry more passengers, level boarding for faster service and better accessibility and grade separations to provide better safety, reliability, smoother crosstown traffic, and eventually more frequent service. We strongly support extending BART to San Jose’s Diridon Station, connecting backbone rail service around the bay. Plus, funding will provide for more frequent bus service to increase ridership, street repaving to help all road users and direct investments in pedestrian and bike safety. For these reasons, we support Measure B.
