Q Dear Mr. Richards: Would you please consider sharing this link to a fund for the family of Bobby Gill, who lost his life on Highway 17 while working on a mudslide? The power of the internet and the media can be an awesome force for good.

Bobby was a beloved member of Graniterock’s construction family. Bobby, 54, had been with us for 15 years when he was fatally injured. He will be dearly missed.

Michelle Jenny A More than $75,000 has been raised since Bobby was killed Feb. 9 while working in Scotts Valley. Go to www.youcaring.com/bobbygillsfamily-754724 if you wish to contribute or send a message to his family and friends. Many commuters on 17 posted on my Roadshow Facebook page. Here are some of those comments, including a note from Bobby’s family. Q Thank you so much! We’re so blessed and grateful for all the love and thoughts and support. It’s so touching, unbelievable and amazing how many people felt this heartbreaking pain. He was my beloved husband, the greatest father, our everything, our rock who will be in our hearts forever. God bless everyone. Sandra Gill and the couple’s children, Sandra, Robert Jr. and Alyssa A

And ... Q Bobby was a great coworker. He always talked about his family and the love he had for them. My sister Diana and I will keep your family in our prayers. If there is anything we can do, please don’t hesitate to ask. Even if it is to share some crazy stories.

Victoria Alarcon A Many spoke of his constant smile. Q Every time I saw Bobby, he was smiling. I enjoyed working with him and I’m very thankful to have known him. Heaven got one of the best.

Vera Roper A

And from a stranger ... Q I didn’t know him, but one day they were working in Watsonville by Field Fresh, where I picked up produce. As I was passing he was standing and talking, then looked up and smiled. I had to watch where I was going. But it’s just something that sticks in one’s mind. Tina Delwiche A And the tears continue to flow. Q My heart has been so heavy since learning of this tragic incident. My tears will not stop flowing. These workers are so brave and working so diligently in these conditions to assist and help thousands and thousands of people so they can get home to their families. Bobby will not go home to his.

Please, everyone driving in these conditions: Be cautious, use headlights and drive slowly so you can reach your home, family and friends. God bless all Caltrans workers and subcontractors. Ann Loera A

And ... Q I was sitting in my car inching past the base of the slide, minutes before, and was struck by how brave and selfless these workers are.

Susan Nichols Novie A Yes, they are.
