“Big Little Lies” — A stellar cast featuring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley and Laura Dern bolsters this juicy, sevenepisode whodunit. Adapted by David E. Kelley from a best-selling novel, it’s set in the tranquil coastal town of Monterey, where alpha females and trophy wives lead seemingly carefree lives in majestic homes. But the glossy picture-perfectionism is shattered when someone ends up dead during a swanky fund-raiser gala. 9 p.m. Sunday, HBO.

SUNDAY: As Season 2 of “Billions” begins, hardcharging U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades continues his anger-fueled battle against billionaire hedge fund king Bobby “Axe” Axelrod, scorching the Earth in a costly war for personal domination. 10 p.m., Showtime.
SUNDAY: Pete Holmes stars in the new semiautobiographical comedy “Crashing.” He’s a suburban nice guy who is married to his childhood sweetheart and dreams of making it as a stand-up comedian. But when he learns his wife is cheating on him, he is forced to reevaluate his priorities. 10:30 p.m., HBO.
MONDAY: Fans of “Bates Motel,” brace yourself. In its final season, the eerie series will eventually synch up with “Psycho,” while delivering plenty of homages to Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece. Checking in will be pop star Rihanna, who plays Bates’ most famous guest, Marion Crane. 10 p.m., A&E.
TUESDAY: In Season 2 of “The Detour,” Nate receives a promising job opportunity, and the family moves to New York City for a fresh start. We smell “disaster” in the air. 10 p.m., TBS.
WEDNESDAY: As “Major Crimes” returns for its winter premiere, we’re worried about the health of Detective Flynn, who suffered a heart attack in the fall finale. More (low impact) gym time and fewer fatty foods, please. 9 p.m., TNT.
THURSDAY: Ready for another spin-off? In “The Blacklist: Redemption,” the notorious criminals from Red’s infamous list band together to form an elite mercenary team that tries to do good, not evil. We wish them luck with that. 10 p.m., NBC.
THURSDAY: “Sun Records” is a new drama series that whisks viewers back to the 1950s to relive the days when producer Sam Phillips (Chad Michael Murray) was working with legends-in-the-making Elvis Presley (Drake Milligan), Johnny Cash (Kevin Fonteyne), Jerry Lee Lewis (Christian Lees) and Carl Perkins (Dustin Ingram). 10 p.m., CMT.
FRIDAY: As the final season of “Grimm” continues, deadly attacks against scientists lead Nick, Hank and Wu on an investigation unlike any other. Meanwhile, as the research continues into the origins of the cloth, Monroe and Rosalee learn that Eve is feeling the effects of the death grip. 8 p.m., NBC.
SATURDAY: The “2017 Film Independent Spirit Awards” may not be as prestigious as the Oscars, but the show is usually more fun. Nick Kroll and John Mulaney host the annual event that celebrates the best in independent movies. 2 p.m. PT (5 p.m. ET), IFC.
