Oilers 4, Avalanche 1: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Drake Caggiula each had a goal and an assist, and Edmonton moved into a three-way tie atop the Pacific Division with a victory over Colorado. Benoit Pouliot and Leon Draisaitl also scored for Edmonton, which has won six of its past seven games and is now tied with San Jose and Anaheim at 91 points.

Rangers 3, Kings 0: Derek Stepan scored late in the second period, Antii Raanta made 30 saves for his eighth career shutout, and New York defeated Los Angeles. Ryan McDonagh added a powerplay goal, and Rick Nash scored an empty-netter for the Rangers, who have won eight of their past 10 road games. Blue Jackets 1, Flyers 0: Sergei Bobrovsky made 36 saves in his seventh shutout of the season, leading Columbus to a victory over Philadelph­ia. Alexander Wennberg tipped in the game’s only goal in the second period. Capitals 4, Coyotes 1: Alex Ovechkin recorded his 30th goal of the season, and Daniel Winnik scored two goals, including the gamewinner late in the third period for Washington. Ovechkin became the third player in league history to score 30-plus goals in each of his first 12 seasons, joining Mike Gartner (15) and Wayne Gretzky (13). Bruins 2, Islanders 1: Riley Nash scored twice, and backup goalie Anton Khudobin made 18 saves as Boston snapped a four-game losing streak. Canadiens 3, Senators 1: Andrei Markov scored two goals and set up another and Montreal beat Ottawa to retain first place in the Atlantic Division. Montreal leads Ottawa by three points.

Canucks 4, Wild 2: Brock Boeser scored in his NHL debut a day after signing with Vancouver. Reid Boucher added two in a four-goal second period as Vancouver defeated slumping Minnesota. The Wild has lost seven of its last eight and is now 3-10-0 in March.
