- In response to Martha Ross’ March 19 commentary ‘Trump headline anxiety disorder: I have it, do you”: John Gordon via email

Everyone in my family, including all five of my adult children voted against Donald Trump. We were surprised that Trump won, but nobody lost sleep. Our kids know they are not guaranteed or entitled to a favorable outcome in every situation. They know the keys to being grounded and objective are to remain optimistic and flexible, adapt to new realities, resist within legal limits and endeavor to make things better. They also ignore Trump’s banal tweets, but they know a lot is at stake with the presidency.

Living at the epicenter of technological and social advancements, Californians typically embrace change. For the majority, the recent election did NOT go their way.

However, the hysteria expressed by many seems based on a feeling that they are on the wrong side of history. Better would be if mature adults accepted this new reality and behaved more rationally.
