Shower for the road
Whether you’re camping or spending a day at the beach, bring along the Road Shower 2. The product consists of a tube that’s 57 inches long that attaches to your vehicle’s roof rack. The five gallons of water you add to the tube from a standard garden hose can be pressurized (up to 18 pounds per square inch) by attaching a bicycle pump or tire inflator to the relief valve. The attached 55-inch hose and nozzle releases the contents when needed. An LCD display shows the water’s temperature. The Road Shower 2 sells for $300, including all necessary hardware at www.roadshower.com. A timely Italian
Like his father, Ferruccio, Tonino Lamborghini is an entrepreneur and maker of exotic products. Rather than cars, this Lamborghini is in the business of producing a line of wristwatches (among other products) that bear his famous family’s name. Lamborghini Automobiles is a subsidiary of Volkswagen. The good news is that Tonino’s timepieces are easier on the wallet; most sell in the $1,500-$2,500 range. Styles range from sport-watch chronographs with unique triangular faces and tread-like bands, to more formal looking wrist jewelry. Check out the store at www. lamborghini.it/ca_en/watches.html. Zap the naps, sleepy head
Crashes that involve drowsy drivers are becoming an epidemic. One way to protect yourself and others — other than to pull over at the first signs of weariness — is to purchase a Nap Zapper. Once positioned behind and around the ear, it “senses” the downward rotation of your head, which indicates that you could be nodding off. At that point it sounds an alert that’s loud enough to jolt any sleep-deprived driver, hopefully before a crash. The Nap Zapper is simple to attach (you can even wear your glasses over the device) and weighs just five ounces. For safety’s sake, pick up Nap Zapper for about $10 at www. napzapper.com. Car wars revisited
Racer-turned-car-builder Carroll Shelby constructed his Cobra sports cars for fast fun on and off the track. His battles with Ferrari, which were largely underwritten by the Ford Motor Company, became the stuff of legends, as did various Cobra iterations and the brave drivers who took turns behind the wheel. Michael L Shoen documents the heyday of this bitter conflict in The Cobra-Ferrari Wars. The thoroughly researched 368-page book covers the combatants, the owner/team managers and 27 sanctioned races where the two marques went head to head in fierce competition. More than 530 original photos, drawings, blueprints and documents add to this historic battle. Order your second-edition copy for $49.50 ($99.45 for international orders) at www.cobraferrariwars.com.
