July 3: A woman told police she put her phone down on a counter at a business just for a moment when someone stole it. The store’s video surveillan­ce recorded the thief and officers were able to make an arrest. 5000 block of Mowry Avenue, July 3: A shop owner called police to report a man was trespassin­g. This was the same man who the shop owner said stole a tip jar. Newark

39800 block of Balentine Avenue, 8:37 p.m. July 3: According to police, someone entered a vehicle and stole an iPhone 6S. 35500 block of Cedar Boulevard, 8:32 a.m. July 3: A 25-year-old transient was placed under arrest at Newark Community Center Park for possession of a stolen vehicle. NewPark Mall, 4:07 p.m. July 2: An 18-year-old man was issued a citation for shopliftin­g at Macy’s. 39100 block of Cedar Boulevard, 11:09 a.m. July 1: Officers responded to a vehicle burglary at Chase Suites Hotel. Upon arriving, they arrested a 45-year-old man for attempting to break into a vehicle and receiving stolen goods. Redwood City

Arden Court, 6:14 p.m. June 30: According to police, someone smashed the driver’s side window. It was unclear if there was anything stolen. Foster City
