Person in custody in deadly stabbing
A person is in custody in the deadly stabbing of a 60-year-old San Jose man in a Sunday morning clash, authorities said.
Police declined to reveal additional details about the suspect, though in an alert sent out after the stabbing, they said investigators were searching for a woman in connection with the city’s 16th homicide of the year.
Officer Albert Morales said the slaying remains under investigation, but that there is no looming public danger posed by the case.
“There is no outstanding suspect in the homicide,” Morales said. “Detectives are continuing to conduct follow-up.”
Officers were called around 9:53 a.m. for reports of a stabbing at a one-story, multi-unit housing complex in the 700 block of South Second Street. Responding officers found a man suffering from at least one stab wound. He was taken to the hospital where he died a few hours later.
The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of his next of kin. Public records and neighbors affirmed that he was a man in his 60s. Neighbors also said he was a U.S. military veteran, but that could not be immediately corroborated.
The victim was with two women, one of whom is a suspect, when the stabbing occurred in his home, according to neighbors and a law-enforcement source.
His death marks the 16th homicide of the year and the second in a week. There were 25 homicides recorded in San Jose at the same point last year.
