New neighborho­ods at Lathrop’s River Islands

River Islands in Lathrop has a lot to celebrate in July, with the grand openings of two new neighborho­ods, a new bridge across the San Joaquin River, a grand reopening of The Boathouse restaurant and the completion of new neighborho­od parks.

The grand opening of Beacon Bay by Kiper Homes is now under way. This new neighborho­od, built along the eastern shore of one of the community’s larger lakes, features four two-story floor plans ranging from 2,281 square feet to 2,939 square feet with three to five bedrooms and three to four bathrooms. A downstairs master suite in one of the plans offers homebuyers the living style of a singlestor­y home. Beacon Bay is the second fine neighborho­od from Kiper Homes at River Islands; prices range from the mid $400,000 range.

Latitude by Van Daele Homes is putting the finishing touches on its model homes for a

July 29 grand opening. Latitude is an all-new collection of homes from the builders of River Islands’ luxurious Summer House neighborho­od. Latitude will feature Van Daele’s first singlestor­y home design offered to date at River Islands. The three floor plans will range from 1,813 square feet to 2,584 square feet with three to six bedrooms. More informatio­n can be found online at vandaele.com.

Last week, River Islands dedicated a new bridge crossing the San Joaquin River. The first two lanes of the bridge, called Bradshaw’s Crossing, now offer access to Interstate 5 at Louise Avenue. Not only does the bridge connect both sides of Lathrop, it offers residents of River Islands another convenient entrance and exit point.

Neighborho­od parks are also slated for completion this summer and into the fall, including one adjacent to the Tidewater neighborho­od. In general, neighborho­od parks are designed with their closest neighbors in mind, with seating for picnics and relaxation, play structures for the kids, and even recreation­al sports amenities for everyone to enjoy. Accessible to the entirety of River Islands, these parks have been designed as comfortabl­e meeting places for old and new neighbors alike, bustling with play and a welcoming atmosphere.

The month of July will bring the grand reopening of The Boathouse restaurant. Featuring lakefront dining and attractive­ly located in the heart of the community of South River Bend, The Boathouse will offer lunch and dinner service.

River Islands Technology Academy is adding 12 new classrooms for the 2017-18 academic year. This charter K-8 school, opened in 2013, has among the highest test scores in the region. Residents of River Islands have priority admission to the school.

With the July opening of the new residentia­l neighborho­ods, River Islands will have 23 model homes in seven distinctiv­e neighborho­ods, representi­ng five of California’s top builders. Single-story homes as well as twostory plans are available, with prices from the low $400,000 range and the low $500,000 range.

To visit River Islands, take I-580 across the Altamont Pass to Interstate 205 just past Tracy and take the Mossdale Road exit. Follow the signs to the Welcome Center, open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
