Q I have been complaining to the city and you regarding my street, Riddle Road in San Jose, which — being riddled with potholes — has indeed earned its name. I hope we are first in line for paving because we really need it. — Eli Lee, San Jose

A Eli has been begging the city to fix Riddle for six years since he first moved here. The news is not encouraging. The short answer is that it’s too early to say if Riddle will be on the list of residential streets to be fixed in 2018. The list will be announced in December.

Said Emil-the-San JosePaving Man: “I don’t doubt that Riddle Road needs fixing (but) we have a very challenging task in front of us, which is to determine how to best spend the funding that we will soon have, knowing that we will still be well short of the total needed to address many of the streets like Riddle Road.”

Q I don’t know who makes these paving decisions, but they don’t seem to make any sense. They did a wonderful job on Santa Teresa Boulevard a few years ago but stopped at Dunn Avenue. What about between Cottle and Dunn, which is in terrible shape? — Don Cull, San Jose

A Good news. Work on Cottle between Santa Teresa and Curie Drive will start around Labor Day while Santa Teresa between Cottle and Dunn will be repaved next year.

Q When will Meridian Avenue be repaved? It is filled with cracks and potholes. — Dave Mackey, San Jose

A The city plans to repave Meridian between Blossom Hill Road and Camden Avenue in 2019. This project will be partially funded by the state and those funds won’t be released until then.

Q Pine Avenue from Hicks to Lincoln avenues is a teeth-rattling ride. Are there plans to resurface this area? — Marilyn Booth

A Yep. In 2019.

Q Let me kick off a drive to get Ross Avenue paved. It runs between Leigh Avenue and Branham Lane, and gets a lot of traffic, especially from Route 85. — Ed Jacklitch, San Jose

A Ross will be resurfaced between Leigh and Branham beginning in mid-October, with work taking until mid-January.

Q Whose responsibility is the road circling the Kaiser facility at Santa Teresa? My little car jumps off the road going 20 mph and the big heavy car even jostles over the large potholes and uneven pavement. — Katie Barronk

Q I’m writing about a pressing safety issue. Curtner Avenue between Bascom and Booksin avenues was recently repaved. But the lane lines haven’t been added yet. People are clearly confused. — Amy Lambert, San Jose

A Lane lines will be installed by Aug. 7 and green bike lanes should be completed by Aug. 14.
