It can be slow going waiting in lines at fast-food burger places

-

Q Gary, here is a great discussion topic for you to have with your readers. What do you prefer? Walking into a fast-food joint to get your food or using the drive through? Some Saturday around 6 p.m. you should go check out the drive through line at the In-N-Out Burger on Blossom Hill Road in San Jose and see how long that line is. Unbelievable. — Jeff M., San Jose A Anyone else? Q The In-N-Out off Interstate 880 at Lewelling Boulevard in San Leandro is always a traffic mess. — Melinda Yau, Fremont A And … Q The burger place off Highway I01 at Millbrae Avenue has pretty tight parking. Lots of limos from the airport go to the carwash next door and to pick up burgers. I think some limos also wait for their next appointment in that lot. I’ll walk in when I can find a spot but that can be tough. — Tom A., Half Moon Bay A OK, folks, how long are you willing to sit in the drivethrough line for a juicy burger? And where is the worst spot, and the fastest? These restaurants claim drive-through lines boost revenue by 30 percent over those without them. Q I just had my license renewed, and my DMV picture looks like I’m a serial killer. I know the first time I ever have to show it to a cop, their first question will be, “Where are the bodies buried?” Can I get another photo taken just because I don’t like the one I have? — Pamela Madden A Yes, you’ll need to visit a local DMV office in order to have a picture re-taken. The fee for a duplicate driver license is $27.

Just tell the DMV technician about being unsatisfied with the current photo and request a new photo. Go to www.dmv. ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/ dl/dl_info#duplicateID_ DL for more information. Q Are there plans to add an “exit only” lane on eastbound Highway 84 at the Thornton/ Paseo Padre exit?

Traffic always backs up starting at 4 p.m. beyond the toll booths where risky driving behavior is frequently observed. — Melinda Proud, Union City A This could be considered in the Dumbarton Bridge makeover being discussed, but not anytime soon. Q Welcome to California, now go home say some readers. That is so rude! How about “Welcome to California where people recycle, ride bikes and embrace diversity.”

Those people who say go home? When did they move here? Speaking as a fifth generation, 50-year resident of the Golden State, people moving here is something you just need to get over. — Deb Goldeen, Palo Alto A That’s life in (near) paradise.
