CAMBODIA: Castro Valley residents Luna and Michael Wiefel visited Cambodia’s Angkor Thom Temple last fall as part of a three-country trip tocelebrate Luna’s birthday. The trip included stops in South Korea and Vietnam, as well. “Cambodia’s temples were on our travel bucket list, andwe were able to check it off,” Luna says.

TRAVEL TIP: “Cambodia’s weather can be extremely humid and hot -- high 90degrees. Plan temple tours in advance from home, with a private guide and adriver through such websites as Trip Advisor. We spent three wonderful days with a local guide, who was able to show us the hidden treasures of Cambodia, such as a waterfall, the ‘reclining Buddha’ and less touristy parts of the Angkor temples.”

PERU: San Jose resident Ramona Snyder’s recent vacation included a swim with sea lions off the coast of Lima at the Palomino Islands.

TRAVEL TIP: “Travel light. You don’t need to bring everything. You’ll probably buy things on your trip and packing light means you have room to carry things back in your suitcase.”
