‘Madam Secretary’ debuts with look at ‘fake news’

“Madam Secretary” — The Season 4 premiere confronts the “fake news” issue head-on with a storyline in which the assistant vice minister of Timor-Leste suddenly dies during a meeting with Elizabeth on the first day of the U.N General Assembly. Elizabeth becomes suspicious after the president of Timor-Leste ships the body back without a proper investigat­ion, and then she comes under fire when a crackpot website posts a story claiming that she is responsibl­e for the minister’s death. 10 p.m. today, CBS.
