The shocker of the night in the first round of the North Coast Section playoffs may have come in Division 1, where Dublin (5-6) edged California (7-4) 27-19. The 11th-seeded Gaels built a 24-12 lead before having to sweat out the victory. Amari Tidwell led Dublin with 125 yards rushing and two receptions for 79 yards and a touchdowns. His 204 total yards accounted for almost half of Dublin’s 418 yards of total offense. Jayden Clark was huge on defense for Dublin with 20 tackles. … No. 8 Heritage (7-4) ran past No. 9 Monte Vista (4-7) 38-17, with Aidan Quinn scoring on touchdown runs of 20, 2 and 38 yards. Luke Lang threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to Hasaan Williams for Heritage’s first score. Heritage now gets a rematch with No. 1 seed and arch-rival Liberty next weekend. Liberty won the regular-season game between the two teams 1714. … Fourth-seeded San Leandro (7-4) won its first playoff game since 2005, trampling No. 13 Berkeley (4-7) 68-14, with 35 of those points coming in the second quarter. Alvonte Thornton scored five touchdowns for the Pirates.
