Arrests made in Eastridge Mall robbery, shooting
SAN JOSE >> Police on Wednesday announced the arrests of four men related to an armed robbery and shooting that occurred last spring at Eastridge Mall.
Police on Wednesday identified the suspects as Christopher French, 20; Jaleen Fleming, 19; Jeremy Lemelle, 30; and Devin Morris, 18, all of San Jose.
The shooting and robbery occurred at about 3:40 p.m. April 25. On the day of the shooting, police responded to the mall and located French hiding inside a nearby store, according to police. He was arrested at the scene. Three other suspects fled the scene.
The man who was shot survived his injuries, police said.
Over the next several months, detectives identified the other suspects. On Aug. 17, Fleming was arrested at his home in San Jose. That same day, Lemelle was arrested at a hotel in Milpitas.
On Sept. 8, Morris was arrested at his residence in San Jose.
French and Lemelle were booked into Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of robbery and assault with a firearm, according to police. Fleming and Morris were booked into jail on suspicion of robbery.
Investigators believe the men are involved in other armed robberies around Eastridge Mall that occurred in March and April. Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying other victims who may have not reported their robbery to the police.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Michael White and Detective Enrique Hernandez of the San Jose Police Department’s Robbery Unit at 408-2774166.
