Jorge Estrella, Andrew Hill

Class: Senior
In a race that went down to the wire, Estrella and St. Francis’ Shyam Kumar sprinted side by side, stride for stride over much of the final half mile. When they crossed the finish line, Estrella defeated the favorite by an eyelash for the Central Coast Section Division II individual championship. Estrella finished in 15:21.0, the best time among all divisions. Kumar’s time was 15:21.1. St. Francis, which had four Top 5 finishers, won the team championship.
Kaylah Grant, Live Oak

Class: Senior
Took first in the Division III race at the Central Coast Section cross country championships in 17:49.00, which was the second-fastest time among all divisions. Only Division IV champion Mari Friedman of Santa Cruz had a faster time (17:47.31) than the Live Oak standout, who won the Division III race by 33 seconds over Aptos’ Maria Zlatunich. The Aptos runner had the third-fastest time among all divisions.
East Bay
Amari Tidwell, Dublin

Class: Senior
In his team’s 27-19 upset of sixth-seeded California in the first round of the North Coast Section Division I playoffs, he rushed for 125 on 13 carries and also caught two passes for 79 yards and a touchdown, finishing with 204 all-purpose yards. His contributions helped the 11th-seeded Gaels advance to play third-seed Antioch on Saturday.
Hana Okuhara, Monte Vista

Position: Setter
Class: Senior
Helped her team win the North Coast Section Division I championship, recording 42 assists, 14 digs, two blocks and an ace in a heart-pounding 17-25, 26-24, 26-24, 20-25, 15-11 victory over James Logan in the final. The championship was Monte Vista’s fourth in a row and propelled the Mustangs (34-2) into the Northern California Open Division playoffs as a No. 5 seed.
