Cowboys release veteran McFadden; Revis sits out

-

The Dallas Cowboys on Sunday released running back Darren McFadden, their leading rusher two years ago, along with kicker Mike Nugent.

The Cowboys (5-6) also signed defensive end Datone Jones and promoted running back Trey Williams from the practice squad. Jones was a first-round pick by Green Bay in 2013. He was released by San Francisco recently.

No Revis yet

Seven-time Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis was inactive Sunday, four days after signing with Kansas City. The Chiefs hope he’ll be ready to start next week against the Jets.

Stat so?

• Atlanta receiver Julio Jones caught 12 passes for 253 yards and two TDs in a 34-20 win over the Bucs. Jones now has three games in his career with at least 250 yards receiving. No other player in NFL history has more than one such game.

• New England QB Tom Brady threw four touchdown passes versus Miami, marking his 28th career game with four or more TD tosses, third all-time. His 26 TD passes this year are the most ever by a quarterback after turning 40.

• With Seattle’s 24-13 win over the 49ers, Seahawks QB Russell Wilson moved past Baltimore’s Joe Flacco to become the winningest quarterback in his first six seasons, with 63 victories.

• Bills kicker Stephen Hauschka missed a 52-yard field-goal try against the Chiefs, ending his NFL-record streak of 13 straight from at least 50 yards.

• The Bears entered their game in Philadelphia with the league’s fifth-ranked rushing offense — and finished with 6 yards on 14 attempts in their 31-3 loss.
