Stanford players make Pac-12 haul
Plummer named volleyball POY; Gray, Hentz also honored
Stanford outside hitter Kathryn Plummer has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Year, Jenna Gray earned Setter of the Year, and Morgan Hentz was selected the Libero of the Year as the annual conference awards were announced Tuesday by the conference.
Joining the trio on the All-Pac-12 Conference Team were redshirt senior Merete Lutz and sophomore Audriana Fitzmorris, while junior Tami Alade earned all-conference honorable mention accolades. Outside hitter Meghan McClure landed on the All-Pac-12 Freshman Team.
A native of Aliso Viejo, Plummer leads the Pac12 and ranks in the top10 in the nation in kills per set (4.70) and points per set (5.43). The sophomore is also third in the conference with 0.37 aces per set. She leads the team with eight double-doubles. She has registered 20 or more kills in 10 matches this season, including a career-best 28 in a fiveset win over UCLA, and has hit .400 or better in 12 matches.
The Cardinal plays host to CSU Bakersfield in the NCAA tournament on Friday.

STANFORD WOMEN IN FINAL FOUR >> Top-seeded Stanford faces South Carolina in the College Cup semifinal on Friday at 2 p.m. at Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Florida. The Cardinal (22-1-0) earned a trip to its eighth College Cup with an emphatic 4-0 win over No. 3-seeded Penn State last Friday. Stanford’s matchup against the Gamecocks (19-2-1) will air live on ESPNU – the winner will take on the winner of Duke and UCLA, set to take place after the Cardinal’s semifinal matchup.
Stanford holds a 2-0-0 record against the Gamecocks – both of the Cardinal’s wins have come in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Stanford defeated South Carolina, 2-0, in 2011, and 1-0 in overtime in 2013. South Carolina advanced to the College Cup, the first in program history, after a 2-0 win over Florida. HERMANN TROPHY NOMINEES >> Top-seeded Stanford was the only school with three semifinalists for the MAC Hermann Trophy, the Heisman of college soccer.
United Soccer Coaches announced Tuesday that Cardinal freshman forward Catarina Macario, midfielder Andi Sullivan and defender Tierna Davidson were among the 15 semifinalists for women. Also making the list were Cal defender Indigo Gibson and Pepperdine midfielder Brianna Visalli of Valley Christian High-San Jose.
College Cup participants Imani Dorsey and Rebecca Quinn of Duke, Grace Fisk and Savannah McCaskill of South Carolina and Jessie Fleming and Hailie Mace of UCLA also were named semfinalists. Gibson directed a backline that ranked among the best in the nation, finishing 15th in Division I in goals against average (0.54) and sixth in save percentage (0.885).
Stanford defender Tomas Hilliard-Arce and striker Foster Langdorf are among the semifinalists for men. Three finalists each for men and women’s are scheduled to be announced Dec. 8 with the winner named Jan. 5.
