South Bay/Peninsula Luke Bottari, Serra Sport: Football Position: Quarterbac­k Class: Junior Completed 28of 33passes for 282yards and three touchdowns as Serra repeated as Central Coast Section Open Division II champion, edging league rival St. Francis 31-30at Independen­ce High. Bottari threw touchdown passes of 26 and 83yards in the first quarter and 16yards in the second, helping the Padres build a two-touchdown advantage. The 28completi­ons set a school record, a mark previously held by Tom Brady and Jesse Freitas. Nicole Liddle, Archbishop Mitty Sport: Volleyball Position: Outside hitter Class: Senior Helped Archbishop Mitty win its sixth consecutiv­e state championsh­ip and state-best 14th overall, finishing with a 16 kills and 23serve-receives without an error in the Monarchs’ sensationa­l 25-20, 25-18, 27-25victory over Mater Dei-Santa Ana in the Open Division final. The Dartmouth-bound Liddle also had a team-leading 17kills in the Northern California final against Marin Catholic. East Bay Tyerell Sturges-Cofer, Liberty Sport: Football Position: Running back Class: Junior With an opportunit­y to help Liberty win its first North Coast Section championsh­ip, Sturges-Cofer rushed for 255yards and three touchdowns in 29carries as the Lions steamrolle­d rival Freedom 37-0in the Division I final. It was the most yards he’s gained in a varsity game as he finished with 1,128 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season. Malia Mastora, St. Joseph Notre Dame Sport: Basketball Position: Wing Class: Sophomore Finished with 23points, four rebounds and two steals in a 55-54victory over then third-ranked Carondelet and 19 points, five steals and four rebounds in a 70-56win over Oregon City. Even more impressive, she shot 15for 24(63 percent) from the field in the two games. As a freshman last season, she averaged 14.2points per game.
