Meghan Markle was reportedly in line to be on her Majesty’s secret service. Well, on film anyway.

Markle, who gave up her acting career shortly before her engagement last month to Prince Harry, was supposedly shortlisted to become the next Bond Girl, according to The Sun. But Gossip Cop shot holes in the rumor, citing unnamed sources.

Actually, both sites used unnamed sources for their reports, so double agents could be at play here.

According to The Sun, 007 producers thought Markle, 36, would be a perfect love interest and/ or foil for Daniel Craig for the latest installment of the James Bond franchise, which is scheduled for release in 2019.

Markle’s starring turn as Rachel Zane on USA Network’s “Suits” was said to have impressed the Bond honchos. They were looking for a “rising star” from the United States or Canada, according to The Sun’s unnamed source.

“Meghan fits the role of a Bond Girl perfectly. She’s glamorous and sexy and a good actress,” the source said.

“The role more recently has gone to actresses deemed to be rising stars, and Meghan certainly was seen as that before her relationship with Harry became public.”

In addition to Markle, Ilfenesh Hadera of the “Baywatch” movie was among five actresses being considered as a Bond Girl, according to the source. But Markle’s relationship with a certain gingerhaired Brit took her out of the running.

“Her engagement effectively spelt an end to her acting career too so that was the final blow,” the source said.

But Gossip Cop, which referred to The Sun’s source as “supposed” and “questionable,” offered up its own Deep Throats to contradict the report.

A friend of Markle’s said there was “no truth” she was ever in the running, and that sources within the Bond franchise agreed, according to the site.

Gossip Cop pointed out that the 25th Bond film was still without a script as of two months ago, and argued that the casting process would not have begun in 2016, when Markle and Prince Harry began dating, without said script.
