Maisie Williams will be Sophie Turner’s bridesmaid
Over seven seasons of “Game of Thrones,” it’s been hard to tell whether sisters Arya and Sansa Stark like each other.
But when it comes to Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, the actresses who the play the embattled Stark siblings, the bond is more than solid. It is, well, sisterly — to the extent that Turner asked Williams to be one of her bridesmaids in her upcoming wedding to Joe Jonas.
In an interview with Ra-dio Times on Sunday, Williams revealed that she had accepted Turner’s request to be a bridesmaid. Williams said about the wedding planning: “It’s very, very exciting. It’s kind of bizarre, though.” Williams said that no major decisions about the wedding had been finalized — presumably including a date — due to production for the HBO show’s final season, which wraps up filming in the next year. “We’re waiting until this season’s done until we get into any of that,” Williams said. “But I think she’s already let her little heart wander and imagine.”
Williams, 20, and Turner, 21, have been close friends since “Game of Thrones’ ” first season, and they hope to keep working together in other ways, Entertainment Weekly reported. “Purely because we just have so much fun and … it would just be a really great atmosphere with us on set together,” Williams said.
Turner and pop star Jonas, 28, started dating in December 2016 and became engaged in October, making their announcement on Instagram.
According to a recent article in the Daily Mail, Jonas has not chosen his best man. The logical choices are his brothers and former bandmates Nick and Kevin Jonas.
Nick told the Mail: “I think my brother Kevin, when he got married, he had all of us be the best men. That’s kind of the diplomatic approach, but I don’t know. It’s up to him.”
Turner isn’t the only “Game of Thrones” actor getting hitched this year. Harper’s Bazaar reports that Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, is set to marry Rose Leslie, who played Ygritte, Snow’s wildling lover.
