Man posed as teen on Snapchat, police say
SAN JOSE >> A 21-year-old man posed as a teenager on Snapchat to meet and have sex with two middleschool-aged girls he plied with alcohol and marijuana, according to San Jose police.
Napoleon John Manzano of San Jose was arrested Jan. 18 on suspicion of an array of crimes involving the juvenile victims, including felony counts encompassing rape, lewd acts, oral copulation, sexual penetration, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
According to the SJPD Internet Crimes Against Children and Child Exploitation Detail task force, detectives investigated Manzano after a 13-year-old girl and her family contacted police to report that she was sexually assaulted by him in December.
Detectives were also alerted to a 14-year-old victim who told a school counselor about similar allegations involving Manzano, police said.
In both cases, the victims — both Santa Clara County residents — described how Manzano contacted them through the social-media app Snapchat and purported himself to be a 17-year-old boy. Police say that in separate instances, he took the girls to his home, gave them marijuana and alcohol, and sexually assaulted them.
Manzano is being held without bail in the Elmwood men’s jail in Milpitas.
