Smartphone attachment Most cell-phone mounting brackets are designed to attach to your vehicle’s dashboard, where they can be annoyingly intrusive and present a temptation for thieves. A less obvious, yet still effective placement approach is to use the Mountek’s Grip+ Slot Mount. As its name implies, the unit attaches to the compact disk opening of your car’s audio system without screws, tape or suction cups. And best of all, it won’t interfere with the CDs already inside your player. The adjustable Grip+ also accepts most, if not all, currentgeneration smart phones and tablets. It can also be quickly removed and reinstalled in other vehicles. Order for $30 from www.mountek.com.

Put on your jacket Storing your vehicle for extended periods should involve more than simply parking it in the garage. For maximum protection, consider the Car Jacket. This U.S.-made product was developed by a hard-core car collector and is designed to support your existing fabric car cover in keeping dirt, water and mildew away from your prized possession. The Car Jacket functions much like a sleeping bag; once the car is positioned over the base, you simply flip the lightweight 7-mil polyethylene top portion over the car and zip it up. Prices are based on vehicle dimensions and range from $220 to $310, including a pack of moisture-absorbing desiccant material. Go to www.carbag.com for product and ordering info.
