A volunteer after-school caregiver and board member at a Chinese language school in Mountain View was arrested Saturday on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts against two children, according to police.

Yizhuang “John” Liu, 26, of Cupertino was arrested Saturday and booked booked into Santa Clara County Jail on six counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years force and one count of continuous sexual assault over a period longer than three months. The booking charges reflect suspected crimes against two children.

Liu served as a volunteer in the after-school program and was on the board of directors of the Sanyu Learning Center, a Chinese language and after-school program located at 1425 S. Springer Road.

Officials at Sanyu could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday. Sanyu Learning Center personnel are “cooperating with the investigation” and helped police send a letter to parents Monday night, according to Mountain View police spokeswoman Katie Nelson.

Friday, the parents of a boy who attends Sanyu called police with an allegation

that Liu had repeatedly touched their son inappropriately over several months, according to a police press release. The parents told police the touching occurred while their son was in the after-school program.

While speaking with the boy, officers received a call that a second victim had come forward with allegations he had also been inappropriately touched by Liu, according to police. The second boy also attended the after-school program at Sanyu.

Police located Liu early Saturday. During the police investigation, officers

learned that in addition to interacting with students at the Sanyu Learning Center, he also communicated with children on a gamer’s social media application known as “Discord.”

Police are “extremely concerned” there may be additional victims in this case. Anyone who may know of additional victims is asked to contact Mountain View Police Detective Marco Garcia at marco.garcia@mountainview.gov or Sgt. Chris Goff at chris.goff@mountainview.gov.
