FREMONT >> A man suspected of sexually assaulting two women Saturday at a store in the Fremont Hub Shopping Center has been arrested, police said Monday.

Officers caught up to 33-year-old Terrell Gomer early Sunday and arrested him on suspicion of two counts of sexual assault and one count each of firstdegree robbery and first-degree burglary, police said. He also is suspected of two counts each of exhibiting a firearm; assault with intent to commit mayhem, rape or other sex offenses; and kidnapping for the purpose to commit robbery, rape or other sex offenses.

The suspect’s arrest came after Fremont and Hayward police forensic investigators determined that a fingerprint collected among the evidence belonged to Gomer. Detectives also examined surveillance video from the store and talked to witnesses at the shopping center, leading them to believe that Gomer had been loitering at the complex since at least 4 a.m.

At least one person positively identified Gomer from a police lineup after he was arrested, Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said.

Gomer’s arrest occurred after police were notified around 2:45 a.m. Sunday that a man was loitering inside the convenience store of a gas station in the 40500 block of Grimmer Boulevard, police said. According to police, the caller reported that the man had been inside the store for two hours and wouldn’t leave.

That call never went over the air, Bosques said, but two officers on duty saw the call on hold and noted the description of the loiterer matched Gomer. Those officers dispatched themselves and other units, Bosques said.

Officers handcuffed Gomer around 3 a.m. and took him to the Fremont police station for questioning. They later booked him into Santa Rita Jail, where he was being held Monday without bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. today at the Fremont Hall of Justice.

Police are still looking for witnesses to Saturday’s crime and for anyone who may have seen Gomer near the Fremont Hub.
