(Spoiler alert: The following post refers to a dramatic twist that will happen in Monday night’s Season 22 finale of “The Bachelor.” It does not, however, reveal which finalist receives the last rose — and ring — from Arie.)

When it comes to “The Bachelor,” we should be used to crazy controversies by now. But the latest one just might top the list.

According to a story reported by Us Weekly, fans will indeed watch Arie Luyendyk Jr. propose to one of two finalists in Monday’s three-hour season finale. And the woman will accept. Oh, but the fun doesn’t stop there: Arie, it seems, will have a change of heart and dump his fiancee in favor of the runnerup he rejected!

Apparently when host Chris Harrison proclaims this to be “the most dramatic ‘Bachelor’ finale ever,” he really means it this time. Arie, as fans of the show know, has professed his love to both Becca Kufrin, 27, and Lauren Burnham, 25. And one of them will slip a big shiny rock on her finger during the Season 22 finale. (Us Weekly is not divulging the woman’s name, as to not spoil everything.)

But weeks after the show finished filming, ol’ Arie — aka the Kissing Bandit — started wondering if he made the right decision. And so he reportedly broke up with the final rose recipient. Within days, reports Us Weekly, the onetime playboy hopped a plane to profess his love to his runner-up.

Last November, he didn’t foresee any thorns in his future. In Peru with Kufrin and Burnham, Luyendyk Arie Luyendyk Jr., star of ABC’s “The Bachelor,” cuddles with his dog Bastian. The show’s season finale on Monday will have a dramatic twist, according to Us Weekly.

“really felt ready for marriage,” explains a second source. When it came time to get down on bended knee, everything went as planned, says the source: “Arie proposed and she said yes. They were super happy.” For about two months.

After spending alone time in South America, they met up stateside a few times, says the insider. But as the series’ Jan. 1 premiere crept closer, Luyendyk started to doubt his happy ending.

“He had second thoughts,” explains the show insider. “He realized who he really wanted to be with and really loved. He just couldn’t stop thinking about the other woman.” As for the breakup, the show insider says, “Arie didn’t handle the situation well. He wasn’t sympathetic or even very nice.”

Apparently, we need to brace ourselves for some fireworks next week. Now in a relationship with his runner-up, the real estate agent is taking things slowly. Reveals another insider, “They don’t want to jump into anything.”
