49ers tap Levy to be new Levi’s Stadium vendor
The hospitality partnership includes concourse concessions, suites and clubs, as well as events
SANTA CLARA >> The San Francisco 49ers have picked the new food and beverage services vendor for Levi’s Stadium: Levy, which provides vending services for the Golden State Warriors and other high-profile sports franchises.
The hospitality partnership covers all areas of the stadium, including concourse concessions, suites and clubs, as well as events, the football team and the restaurant company stated.
Chicago-based Levy is a sports and entertainment hospitality provider and a restaurant company. Levy provides food and beverage services for the Golden State Warriors home games in Oakland. Other well-known sports franchises served by Levy include the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Cubs.
Levy’s technology and analytics subsidiary, Chicago-based E15 Group, will also lend expertise connecting venue technology with hospitality programming.
The new vendor will take over in April. The 49ers and Levy said more details would be forthcoming this spring and summer regarding new
dining destinations and fan experiences at Levi’s Stadium. Details also are anticipated regarding employment opportunities with the new venture.
The announcement follows the dismissal of Centerplate as the food and services vendor at Levi’s Stadium.
The termination of the contract also led to the layoffs of 759 Centerplate employees. Unite Here Local 19 and Teamsters Local 853 represent Centerplate employees.
However, the new contract puts those employees in a position to be hired by Levy when it takes over the stadium services in April.
“Any new concessionaire is required by contract and by the city of Santa Clara worker retention ordinance to hire existing employees,” the San Francisco 49ers stated in comments emailed to this news organization.
