SOUTH BAY/PENINSULA

Alex Braken-Guelke, Los Gatos

Sport: Basketball

Position: Guard

Class: Senior

Finished with 36 points as second-seeded Los Gatos advanced to the Central Coast Section Division I semifinals with an 81-66 victory over 10th-seeded Evergreen Valley at Piedmont Hills. Braken-Guelke was consistent­ly effective, scoring 18 points in each half. “He got hot,” Los Gatos coach Nick Ward said. Braken-Guelke had 31 points in the team’s previous game and began this week averaging 20.4 points per game.

Lucy Tang, Mountain View

Sport: Soccer

Position: Forward

Class: Senior

Led the second-seeded Spartans to a 2-0 win over Presentati­on in the quarterfin­als of the Central Coast Section Open Division playoffs, scoring a goal in each half. The UC San Diegobound standout began this week with a team-best 21 goals on the season for the reigning Open Division champs. Tang has scored at least two goals in seven of her team’s 21 games. The quarterfin­al win improved Mountain View’s record to 20-1.

EAST BAY

Robby Beasley, Dublin Sport: Basketball Position: Guard

Class: Sophomore

Less than a week after Amador Valley students serenaded him with chants of “Bye, bye, Beasley,” the Dublin star and his teammates roared back from a stunning one-point loss to the Dons in the East Bay Athletic League championsh­ip game with a dominant performanc­e in the North Coast Section Division I quarterfin­als. Beasley scored 29 points as Dublin advanced with a 72-37 victory on its home court.

Haley Van Dyke, Campolindo

Sport: Basketball

Position: Forward

Class: Senior

The Washington-bound star finished with 60 points to break her own North Coast Section scoring record as Campolindo defeated Moreau Catholic 73-50 in a Division III quarterfin­al. Van Dyke was 27 of 42 from the field and 3 of 6 from beyond the 3-point arc. She set the previous record in January when she scored 56 in a win over Brookside Christian. Van Dyke began this week averaging 30.2 points per game.
