Luke Giusto, De La Salle soccer: Finished with two goals and an assist as the Spartans defeated Monte Vista 3-1 for the NCS Division I championship.
Nico Hausser, Daniel Kjeldsen, Ben Porter, Bishop O’Dowd soccer: Each scored in Bishop O’Dowd’s 4-0 victory over Miramonte in the NCS Division III soccer championship match. Victor Jaquez, Bellarmine wrestling: Had five pins over the two-day Central Coast Section championships, including a fall at 3:45 in the second round for back-to-back titles.
Jack Kilner, Granada wrestling: Helped his team finished fourth in the team standing sat the NC S championships by winning the crown at 182 pounds.
Antonio Margiotta, Las Lomas wrestling: Won the 122pound division at the North Coast Section championships, leading the Knights to second place in the team standings, the program’s highest finish. Margiotta is a four-time state qualifier. Davis Miller, Willow Glen baseball: Pitched a no-hitter with seven strikeouts as Willow Glen defeated Mt. Pleasant 8-0. Miller faced the minimum 21 batters, with the only batter reaching on a catcher’s interference. The runner was picked off. Miller also hit a two-run homer in the game.
Peyton Omania, De La Salle wrestling: The Michigan Statebound Omania, the state’s top-ranked wrestler at 145 pounds, celebrated a third NCS championship with a 7-3 victory over Nicholas Bossert of Las Lomas in the final. The win helped DLS win its ninth section team title.
Eric Sanchez, Silver Creek wrestling: A section runner-up last season at 106 pounds, Sanchez, a senior, took first at the CCS finals this season at 113.
Kyle Parco, Dwayne Guerrero and Ankhaa Enkhmandakh, De La Salle wrestling: Parco (126 pounds), Guerrero (132) and Enkhmandakh (160) won individual titles at the NCS championships.
Emmily Patneaud, Newark Memorial wrestling: Sophomore won a state title at 143 pounds, beating Julia Padilla of Northview 4-2 in the final. She was the only state champion in this publication’s coverage area at last weekend’s girls finals.
Gus Petruske, College Park wrestling: Took home a firstplace medal by winning the 113-pound classification at the NCS finals.
Nate Paulson and Adrian Chavez, Liberty wrestling: Paulson finished first at 138 pounds and Chavez placed first at 195 to claim NCS individual championships, helping Liberty place third in the team standings.
Kendall Stubblefield, Bellarmine basketball: Despite early foul trouble, the senior scored 21 points to help lead the Bells past Serra 56-37 in the CCS Open Division quarterfinals.
Tyler Williams, Los Gatos baseball: Had two hits, drove in two runs and scored once as Los Gatos opened its season with a 5-1 victory over St. Francis.
