Candidates Forum for San Jose City Council District 9
A Q&A Forum moderated by Madison Nguyen will give the participating candidates for San Jose City Council District 9 an opportunity to explain how they will best serve city residents if elected.
Madison Nguyen, former San Jose Vice Mayor, is now the Executive Vice President (EVP) of The Silicon Valley Organization, formerly known as the San Jose/Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce. The EVP role is instrumental in supporting all of The SVO's activities, specifically driving the organization's public policy, advocacy, political action, economic and community development strategies and tactics. In 2002, Madison ran for and won a seat on the FranklinMcKinley Board of Education and became the first Vietnamese American woman elected to public office in California. Madison served on the San Jose City Council from 2005-2014 with four years as Vice Mayor. Shay Franco-Clausen is a mother, a community healer and leader, activist and an advocate for Women and Children in Silicon Valley. A true Progressive and is dedicated to serving, as she has done for over 28 years. Shay serves in many capacities from Santa Clara County Commission on the Status ofWomen, Human Trafficking Commission, San Jose Evergreen College Bond Oversight Committee and more. Public safety is not just Police, but Fire, medical services, affordable housing and job creation, to keep people from resorting to crime.
