- — Jim Harrington, Staff

It’s time to get out and hear some live music. Here are some of the top options going on in the San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland areas:

ALO: The jam-rock band, which traces its roots back to Saratoga, returns to the Bay Area to perform three shows at The Fillmore in San Francisco. It plays 9 p.m. Friday (with John Craigie opening) and 9 p.m. Saturday (with Tauk opening). It also performs its “Sing-Along for Kids” show at 3 p.m. Saturday. Details: $25 evening shows, $13.50 matinee; www.livenation.com.

Rend Collective: The popular folk-rock act from Northern Ireland is touring in support of its latest album, “Good News,” which topped Billboard’s Christian music chart earlier this year. Rend Collective performs Tuesday at Calvary Church in Los Gatos. Hopefully the set list will include such fan favorites as “Build Your Kingdom Here,” “My Lighthouse” and “You Will Never Run.” Details: 7 p.m.; $20-$50; www.ticketfly.com.

Greyboy Allstars: It’s going to get funky when these Allstars — saxophonist Karl Denson, guitarist Elgin Park, keyboardist Robert Walter, bassist Chris Stilwell and drummer Aaron Redfield — perform tonight and Friday at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. Details: 8 p.m.; $31; www.slimspresents.com.

Jack Mosbacher: The former Stanford baseball player is in the Bay Area supporting his debut album, “Sunny Songs for Shady People.” The rock-soul artist performs Friday at Slim’s in San Francisco. Rooney Pitchford opens the show. Details: 9 p.m.; $16, www. slimspresents.com.
