1927 - 2018 Former Long-Time Resident of San Jose

Beverly Rose passed away following 10 days of hospitaliz­ation and hospice care at home. She was born and grew up in S.F., graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School. She earned a B.A. in history at Stanford University and obtained a secondary teaching credential at San Francisco State.

In 1950, Beverly became the beloved wife of James Rose (deceased). She leaves a daughter, Linda (Ernie) Westby-Gibson of Roseville and a son, Richard (Linda Marie) Rose of Smithtown, NY. She was the cherished Grandma and Oma of Sonia Lilani, Raymond and Sydney Rose. Other survivors include sister Janis Mortensen and her three sons and families.

Bev worked in education for five years as a junior high teacher in Sunnyvale and Oakland, and a secretary at the Dept. of Ed. U.C.L.A. She enjoyed her family and donated her time to the following causes: president of P.T.A., school band parents, and P.E.O. (a member for over 60 years); P.E.O. Nearly New Shop in Sunnyvale; scouts; deacon at Westminste­r Presbyteri­an Church; hats for homeless children and prayer shawls for church. She also read, traveled, played bridge and raised orchids.

Beverly will be remembered for her strength of character, her gentle smile, her incredible wit, her selfless generosity and her constant love for her family. She will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

At Bev’s request, no memorial service will be held.
