A committed and connected community at Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District
Guiding the next generation
In the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District, over 1,450 employees work together to shape and empower the next generation, transforming the students of today into the world leaders of tomorrow. Join our team to ignite the excitement for learning among our students. Join our team to make a difference.
Our superintendent, Dr. Kelly Bowers, leads our innovative team that includes technology experts, administrative assistants, bookkeepers, skilled trades workers, coaches, data technicians, counselors, custodians, nurses, and food service employees, as well as teachers and administrators, all of whom work collaboratively to influence and improve the lives of our students.
Thriving in a changing world
Our schools offer unique opportunities that prepare our students to be global citizens. Our Spanish Dual Immersion and International Baccalaureate K-12 programs bring the world into the classroom and connect our students with others around the globe. At all schools and at all grade levels, science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) take a front seat in the classroom. Students benefit from a cutting-edge science curriculum, with many schools implementing — and even initiating — programs from Project Lead the Way in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science.
Our partnership with the Livermore Valley Education Foundation (LVEF) has kept the arts alive in our schools, including enabling our partnership with the Livermore Shakespeare Festival that introduces second graders to Shakespeare. Theater and visual arts programs in our schools echo the Livermore community’s appreciation of the arts. Visit any of the beautifully designed murals at local bus stops to see one of the many ways students positively impact the community. LVJUSD’s partnership with the Tri-Valley Regional Occupation Program (TVROP) provides students with valuable work-based learning opportunities in such fields as business and marketing, medical occupations, video game design, cosmetology, and auto technology. On-campus programs at both high schools provide hands-on experiences as a studio broadcaster, filmmaker, animator, and graphic artist. Many of our programs offer college credit and prepare students to earn technical certifications.
A supportive community
We support our employees with ongoing professional development. New teachers receive two years of direct coaching and mentorship through the Tri-Valley Teacher Induction Program. This program prepares teachers to thrive in the classroom and allows them to clear their teaching credentials. Teachers and administrators attend conferences including Google Apps for Education, Computer Using Educators (CUE), and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
All employees receive training that supports the continuing development of their professional expertise.
Our Livermore community continues to show its support of LVJUSD. Since 2004, voters have overwhelmingly approved an ongoing parcel tax to support school programs. In June 2016, Livermore voters passed a facilities bond that is already being put to use to upgrade and modernize our school facilities including enhancements to our technology infrastructure. Livermore employees and students benefit from a flourishing partnership with our community.
Livermore offers the comfort of a suburban community, with the excitement of an eclectic downtown with shopping, restaurants, and a thriving theater and arts scene. Wineries and craft breweries add to Livermore’s amenities. The Livermore
