Wes Harper, Bellarmine Sport: Baseball

In a West Catholic Athletic League matchup against rival St. Francis, Harper threw a complete game as Bellarmine won on its home field 1-0. He also drove in the only run. On the mound, Harper scattered four hits, walked one and struck out two in a 70-pitch gem. The outing lowered the senior’s ERA to 2.21 and improved his record to 2-0 in four starts. The West Bay Athletic League player of the year faced constant pressure from Archbishop Mitty in the Northern California Open Division championship game but didn’t allow that to rattle her as she helped lead Pinewood to an epic 78-67 victory over the national No. 1 Monarchs at Santa Clara University. The point guard played all 44 minutes, finishing with 20 points, five assists and a steal to propel Pinewood into the state championship Saturday in Sacramento against Windward. East Bay
Nathan Robinson, Las Lomas Sport: Basketball

Scored a game-high 18 points and held Palo Alto star Max Dorward to 10 points as Las Lomas celebrated a Northern California Division I championship — the program’s first regional title — with a 44-41 victory. In the previous round, Robinson and teammate Robert Prince each scored 25 points as the Knights cruised past Archbishop Mitty 84-70 to advance to their first regional final in 30 years. Class: Senior
The two-time reigning state champion in the 800 is off to a great start this season. In a showdown against Santa Cruz’s Mari Friedman at the Dublin Distance Fiesta, Brewer went under 2:09 for the first time in a March race, finishing first in 2:08.99 to Friedman’s 2:09.79. Brewer’s time ranks No. 1 in the nation this season, two spots ahead of Friedman’s. Brewer won state in 2:06.86 as a sophomore and repeated in 2:07.07 last season.
